Facing the truth

Harmonie

“Harmonie you have to eat something” Val said handing me the saltine crackers and ginger ale as she sat on the couch by my feet. It had been two long whole days since Sincere walked out the room and told me we were done and I seriously missed my love, my everything, my friend.

“I’m not hungry Val” I said tucking my hands in between my leg as I lay in the fetal position on the couch.

“Harm, I know you going through a lot and I am so sorry, but you have to eat something because not only do you need to be healthy so does the baby, so eat a few crackers at least” Val said in a concerned tone. Not wanting to hear her mouth, I picked up the crackers and nibbled on one, and instantly got sick.

Jumping to my feet and hurrying to the bathroom and making it there just in time before the throw up it the floor, I vomited but mainly acid was coming out since I hadn’t eaten. After dry heaving for five minutes to where my insides were actually hurting, I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand, flushed the toilet and stood to my feet to brush my teeth. Brushing my teeth I stare at my reflection in the mirror, though I still didn’t have a blemish in sight and to the eye of my beholder I was as beautiful as a model in a magazine I saw nothing but ugliness.

For the past two days, I kept asking myself ‘Harmonie why didn’t you just tell him you didn’t get the abortion, or even something as simple as a nod’ but whenever I questioned it, nothing came to mind except I was afraid.

“Harmonie?” I heard my mother call from the other side of the bathroom door.

“Yea?” I answered just as I was turning the water off and wiping my mouth.

“You okay?”

“Yea I’m okay” I said as I opened the door, and spotted my mom standing there holding Nevaeh.

“You need me to get you anything?” she asked as she stepped out my way. My mom had apologized so many times for allowing me to see her the way I saw her that day, and even after telling her it was okay I understood why she felt the way she did, she still kept apologizing.

“No mommy, I’m fine” I said giving her a reassuring smile, and I knew one I said mommy she would fall back a little.

“Okay, well I’m about to go to my room, and get some sleep if you need anything just let me know. Your dad and RaySean went out for a bit just in case you were wondering where they went.” she said kissing me on my cheek.

“Okay but I should be fine” I said and then she turned and walked away and handed Nevaeh to Val and then headed out the room.

Sitting back on the couch, I picked up my phone and called Sincere’s number which kept going right to voicemail which it had been since the day he walked out.
